Privacy Policy

Applies to dieselfit.co.za and anyone who requests a quote, creates an account, or contacts us.

DieselFit ("we", "us", "our") processes personal information in accordance with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and what your rights are.

Information We Collect

We collect information you give us directly, through these parts of the site:

• Requesting a quote — your name, email, phone number, company (if given), and delivery address.
• Creating an account — your name, email, and phone number, plus any saved delivery addresses.
• Contacting us — whatever you provide on the contact form: name, email, phone, and your message.
• Your basket — stored in your browser only, until you submit a quote request.

One thing worth being upfront about: if you type a valid email into the quote form but don't finish submitting it, we save that email (and whatever's in your basket at the time) so we can follow up in case you meant to complete your request. You can opt out of that follow-up at any time via the link in the email itself.

Why We Use It

• To prepare and send you an accurate quote, including delivery.
• To process, deliver, and (where requested) install your order.
• To respond to enquiries and support requests.
• To follow up on a quote request you started but didn't finish.
• To maintain your account and order history.
• Where you've opted in, to send occasional product or promotional updates.

We don't use your information for anything beyond these purposes, and we don't sell your personal information to anyone.

Cookies & Local Storage

• Your basket is stored in your browser (not our servers) until you submit an order.
• A login session is stored so you stay signed in to your account.
• A random, temporary session ID helps us understand which pages and products get the most interest — it isn't linked to your name or account.

Who We Share Information With

We use a small number of service providers to run the site. Each only receives what it needs to do its job:

• Supabase — hosts our database and handles account logins.
• Resend — sends order, quote, and account emails on our behalf.
• Google / OpenStreetMap — looks up address suggestions as you type your delivery address.
• Meta (Facebook) — where enabled, receives anonymous product-interest events (never your name, email, or phone number) so we can measure the effectiveness of our advertising.
• Our website developer — has operational access to maintain the site and fix issues.

Separately, we list our products (names, prices, images, availability) on Google Shopping so people can find them — that catalogue data never includes your personal information.

How Long We Keep It

We keep your information for as long as your account is active, or as long as we need it for the purposes above — for example, to honour a warranty, keep accounting records, or resolve a dispute. If you'd like your information deleted sooner, contact us and we'll action it unless we're legally required to keep it.

Your Rights

Under POPIA, you can ask us to:

• Tell you what personal information we hold about you.
• Correct information that's wrong or out of date.
• Delete your information, subject to legal or accounting requirements to retain it.
• Object to your information being used for direct marketing — every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to keep the risk as low as we reasonably can.
