Privacy Policy

Applies to dieselfit.co.za and anyone who requests a quote, creates an account, or contacts us.

DieselFit ("we", "us", "our") processes personal information in accordance with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and what your rights are.

Information We Collect

We collect information you give us directly, through these parts of the site:

• Requesting a quote — your name, email, phone number, company (if given), and delivery address.
• Creating an account — your name, email, and phone number, plus any saved delivery addresses.
• Contacting us — whatever you provide on the contact form: name, email, phone, and your message.
• Your basket — stored in your browser only, until you submit a quote request.

One thing worth being upfront about: if you type a valid email into the quote form but don't finish submitting it, we save that email (and whatever's in your basket at the time) so we can follow up in case you meant to complete your request. You can opt out of that follow-up at any time via the link in the email itself.

Why We Use It

• To prepare and send you an accurate quote, including delivery.
• To process, deliver, and (where requested) install your order.
• To respond to enquiries and support requests.
• To follow up on a quote request you started but didn't finish.
• To maintain your account and order history.
• Where you've opted in, to send occasional product or promotional updates.

We don't use your information for anything beyond these purposes, and we don't sell your personal information to anyone.

Cookies & Local Storage

Nothing optional loads until you choose. When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or decline analytics, marketing, and maps & videos separately.

Essential (always on)

• Your basket is stored in your browser (not our servers) until you submit an order.
• A login session is stored so you stay signed in to your account.
• Your cookie choice is remembered for 6 months so we don't ask on every visit.
• Age confirmation (only where the store has an age check) is remembered for 1 year, and a small "already shown" flag keeps the home-page popup from repeating during your visit.

Analytics (only if you allow it)

• A random session ID, the pages and products you view, and how you first arrived (the website you came from and any campaign tags in the link) are recorded in our own database, so we can see which pages and products get the most interest. The arrival details are kept in your browser for up to 90 days.

Marketing (only if you allow it)

• The Meta Pixel and Google Ads set cookies such as _fbp, _fbc and _gcl_au, so we can measure and improve our advertising. We also keep the ad click ID from the link you arrived on, and report completed enquiries or purchases to Google as conversions.

Maps & videos (only if you allow it, or when you click to load)

• Embedded Google Maps, address suggestions (Google Places or OpenStreetMap), YouTube and Vimeo videos, and Google's "Preferred Source" button contact those providers from your browser and may set their own cookies. Until you allow them, you'll see a placeholder you can click to load just that item.

Who We Share Information With

We use a small number of service providers to run the site. Each only receives what it needs to do its job:

• Supabase — hosts our database and handles account logins.
• Resend — sends order, quote, and account emails on our behalf.
• Google Maps / OpenStreetMap — only when you choose to use address search or load the map, they receive what you type into the address box (or the map request) along with your IP address.
• Meta (Facebook) — only with your marketing consent, the Meta Pixel receives your IP address, browser data, cookie identifiers, and the products you view plus purchase or enquiry values, so we can measure and target our advertising.
• Google Ads — only with your marketing consent, receives ad click IDs and conversion values (for example the value of a completed order) so we can measure our advertising.
• YouTube / Vimeo — only when you click to play an embedded video, they receive your IP address and browser data and may set cookies.
• Our website developer — has operational access to maintain the site and fix issues.

Separately, we list our products (names, prices, images, availability) on Google Shopping so people can find them — that catalogue data never includes your personal information.

How Long We Keep It

We keep your information for as long as your account is active, or as long as we need it for the purposes above — for example, to honour a warranty, keep accounting records, or resolve a dispute. If you'd like your information deleted sooner, contact us and we'll action it unless we're legally required to keep it.

Your Rights

Under POPIA, you can ask us to:

• Tell you what personal information we hold about you.
• Correct information that's wrong or out of date.
• Delete your information, subject to legal or accounting requirements to retain it.
• Object to your information being used for direct marketing — every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to keep the risk as low as we reasonably can.
